Dr David Hillson is an international risk consultant offering expert risk support across the globe, at both strategic and tactical levels. He has worked in nearly fifty countries and his consultancy clients include major organisations in construction, telecommunications, pharmaceutical, transport, fast-moving consumer goods, energy, IT, defence and government. David also leads the team at The Risk Doctor Partnership, based on his worldwide network with like-minded professional risk experts. With thirty years of risk consulting experience, David is recognised internationally as a leading thinker and practitioner in risk management, and he is a popular conference speaker and author on the subject. He has written eleven major books on risk , and contributed to several others, as well as writing many papers, articles and briefings. He has made a number of innovative contributions to the risk process which have been widely adopted. David is well-known for promoting inclusion of proactive opportunity management in the risk process. His recent work has clarified the softer aspects of risk, including ground-breaking practical approaches to risk attitude, risk appetite and risk culture, and he has also developed a scaleable project risk methodology. Dr Hillson has received a number of awards in recognition of his risk management work. For example, he was named Risk Personality of the Year in 2010-2011 by the Institute of Risk Management (IRM). He was the first recipient of this award, given to honour the individual who has made a significant global contribution to improving risk management knowledge, whose experience and expertise enables them to effectively promote the message of strong risk management, and who provides inspiration to their peers in the risk profession. David Hillson is an active member of the global Project Management Institute (PMI®), and he has received several awards which recognise his sustained and significant contribution to advancing the field of risk management in projects. In 2010 David was elected a PMI Fellow, and he has also received the PMI David Cleland PM Literature Award (2013), the PMI Eric Jenett PM Excellence Award (2011) and the PMI Distinguished Contribution Award (2002). David has contributed to the risk chapter of the PMI Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK®) since 1998, and he is currently Vice Chair for the PMBOK Guide Sixth Edition update (2016). He was also a core author of PMI’s Practice Standard for Project Risk Management (2009). David became an Honorary Fellow of the UK Association for Project Management (APM) in 2008, marking his contribution to developing the discipline of risk management. He is a past Chairman of the APM Specific Interest Group (SIG) on Risk Management, and he has co-edited three major risk guides for APM. David was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) in 2007 to contribute to its Risk Commission. He led the RSA Fellows project on societal attitudes to failure , and is editor of The Failure Files. He is also a Chartered Fellow with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), reflecting his broad interest in topics beyond his own speciality of risk management.

Tejas Sura has been managing director of Conart Engineers Ltd., an Indian publicly listed company, with over 20 years of construction project experience with multinational organizations. After leading the business, implementing international best practices and growing the company revenues at 15 percent annually, he saw an opportunity to grow another business, integrating his passion for the value of project, program and portfolio management (PPPM). He founded Cubic Turnkey Private Limited, utilizing a PMO framework and sound financial planning. His strategic leadership and oversight has ensured 100 percent referral business, top and bottom line growth, three years running. Mr. Sura has been an enthusiastic volunteer and served PMI for 18 years in various capacities including founder, vice president/finance, president and advisor for the PMI Mumbai Chapter, region mentor (South Asia), Chapter Member Advisory Group (MAG) and currently International Standards Organization (ISO) MAG. He has volunteered for the PMBOK® Guide and Construction Extension to the PMBOK® Guide , and is a recipient of several honors, including PMI leadership awards. He is the head of the Indian delegation for the ISO Technical Committee for PPPM and has been a volunteer officer for American Society of Civil Engineers and Rotary Club of Bombay West. He has been elected to serve the PMI Board for a three year term from 2018 to 2020. A seasoned speaker, he has presented at PMI Leadership Institute Meetings, global conferences, regional and chapter meetings on topics such as leadership, finance, and project and program management. He advances the profession as a visiting faculty for leading graduate schools in Mumbai. Mr. Sura enjoys the multicultural team environment, having worked on projects in North America and Asia Pacific with diverse stakeholders. While volunteering, he has lead globally distributed teams. A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a master’s degree in civil engineering, Mr. Sura also holds an MBA in finance. In addition to his PMP® and PfMP® credentials, he is a graduate of the PMI® Leadership Institute Master Class of 2010. Mr. Sura lives in Mumbai, India and enjoys his family, travel and music.

Muhammad A. B. Ilyas is an organizational transformation specialist with expertise in organizational project management and corporate governance. Muhammad Ilyas is a member of PMI’s R.E.P. Advisory Group where he represents the EMEA region. With over eighteen years of experience in the industry, he has also remained an active educator. Muhammad Ilyas teaches undergraduate university students and trains professionals from different sectors which include government, oil & gas, banking, telecommunications and professional services. He has spoken at various PMI forums in UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Turkey, Pakistan, UK, Spain, Italy and USA.

Abdirahman is currently the Supervisor of the Value Practices Unit, PMOD, Saudi Aramco. Since 2008 he has been key to promoting the company’s Value Improving Practices implementation on capital projects. Having graduated from University of California at Berkeley with an MS degree in Civil Engineering, he is a registered professional engineer in the State of California. With more than 28 years of experience in construction engineering and project management, he holds Earned Value Professional (EVP) and Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) certifications from AACE-International, a Project Management Professional (PMP) – from PMI, and an Associate Value Specialist (AVS) credential from SAVE International.
